About the team The Communications team is responsible for design and engineering of all satellite communications with ground stations, including tracking, telemetry and commands (TT&C) and payload data radios. Since radios are the only way to communicate with the satellites, reliable systems are crucial for the success of our mission. The team is always learning and trying to push the limits, relying in part on the large diversity of people’s profiles and backgrounds. About the job We are looking for a satellite communications engineer to join the team that designs, builds, maintains and continuously improves the satellite communications systems. As a satellite communications engineer you will oversee the lifecycle of the communication systems, both in flight and ground segments, from launch to decommissioning. What will you do Act as the main point of contact with the operations teams. Define and maintain all performance metrics and service level indicators. Support the continuous improvement process. Maintain the user-level documentation, such as manuals, datasheets, interface control documents, and APIs. Design, execute and document in-flight tests and benchmarks. The preferred location is Buenos Aires. About you Required experience: Degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering, or equivalent 2+ years experience in RF communication systems operation, technical support, testing and/or measurement. 2+ years experience in Python programming. Experience in data analytics for systems reliability and continuous improvement will be valued. Required skills: Linux, Docker, code version control tools (git) and continuous integration. Database systems (SQL-based), search and analytics engines (Elasticsearch). Advanced Python 3 programming. Communication systems performance measurement. RF link budget calculation. Planning, tracking and documenting tasks. Fluent English. Desirable skills: Flexibility and agility: be comfortable with an ever-changing and fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Communication: excellent organizational and communication skills. Initiative: identify improvement opportunities, provide feedback, design solutions. Ability to understand and manage discrepancies and tradeoffs by exploring different alternatives and points of view. Service-oriented professional, working towards customer satisfaction.
